1Acceptance of these terms

This website is operated by the Intra-Africa Metrology System (AFRIMETS) through its Secretariat. By accessing or using the website you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the website.

These terms apply to every page of the website, to the documents offered for download and to any service provided through it, such as the contact form and newsletter.

2About AFRIMETS and this website

AFRIMETS is the regional metrology organisation for Africa. The website informs members, partners and the public about the organisation, its governance, its technical activities, its publications and its events.

The Secretariat is hosted by the National Metrology Institute of South Africa (NMISA), which provides the infrastructure for the website on behalf of the members.

3Permitted use

You may browse the website, read its content and download the documents it offers for your own information, for study, for research and for the work of your institution.

You may not use the website in any way that damages it, interferes with its operation or with other users, or breaks the law. In particular you may not attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the website or its administration, introduce malicious software, or use automated tools to copy the website in bulk without our written permission.

4Intellectual property

Unless stated otherwise, the content of the website, including text, documents, images, logos and the AFRIMETS name and emblem, belongs to AFRIMETS or is used with the permission of its owners and is protected by copyright and trademark law.

You may quote and reproduce text and documents from the website for non-commercial purposes, provided that AFRIMETS is acknowledged as the source and the material is not altered in a way that misrepresents its meaning. Any other use, and any use of the AFRIMETS emblem, requires the prior written permission of the Secretariat.

Photographs, logos of member institutions and partner organisations, and documents of third parties remain the property of their owners.

5Documents and downloads

Publications, reports, guidelines and other documents are provided for information. Where a document is also issued in a signed or printed form, that form is the official version.

We make reasonable efforts to keep documents current, but a document may be superseded by a later edition. Check the date and version before relying on a document for regulatory or contractual purposes.

6Accuracy of information

We take care to publish accurate and up-to-date information, but we do not guarantee that the website is free of errors or omissions. Information on the website is general and does not constitute legal, technical or professional advice for any specific situation. Contact the relevant national metrology institute or authority for advice on your own case.

8Content you send us

When you send us a message, a story or other material through the website, you confirm that you have the right to do so and that it does not infringe the rights of others. You grant AFRIMETS a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce and publish that material in connection with its activities, with acknowledgement where appropriate.

Do not send confidential or sensitive information through the website unless we have asked for it. Messages sent through the contact form are handled as described in the Privacy Policy.

9Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what personal information the website collects, how it is used and the choices you have. It forms part of these terms.

10Availability and changes to the website

We aim to keep the website available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the website, and we may change these terms, at any time without notice. The date at the top of this page shows when the terms were last updated; continued use of the website after a change means that you accept the updated terms.

11Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, AFRIMETS, its members, its Secretariat and its host institution are not liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of the website or of the information and documents on it, or from the inability to use the website.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under the applicable law.

12Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, where the AFRIMETS Secretariat is hosted, and any dispute concerning them is subject to the jurisdiction of its courts.

Questions about these terms can be sent to the AFRIMETS Secretariat through the contact form or by email.
