AFRIMETS objectives guide cooperation, capacity building, traceability, regulatory harmonisation and the delivery of reliable metrology services across member states.

AFRIMETS Objectives
  • Satisfy and sensitise customers and stakeholders, including service recipients, BIPM, African countries, NMIs, RMOs, governments, industry and consumers.
  • Facilitate trade by strengthening measurement reliability and international acceptance.
  • Deliver value for money for measurement services and increase the number of services available to members.
  • Facilitate consumer protection, health, safety and environmental protection.
  • Integrate the needs of members and stakeholders into AFRIMETS programmes.
  • Reduce the cost of metrology development through African institutions and regional cooperation.
  • Sustain regional resources and support financially strong sub-regional metrology bodies.
  • Transfer traceability to end users in a cost-effective way.
  • Harmonise regulations, policies and quality systems in line with international requirements.
  • Improve member capacity, technical competence and the standard of metrology across Africa.
